We are halfway through the summer and I realised that the most common items I wear on rotation are summer dresses. It’s actually a whole outfit in one piece. At the beginning of the season when I created a capsule wardrobe I had no idea that I will end up wearing the summer dresses on repeat. Alright, sometimes I do wear a shorts and my favourite tops. But I found myself to reach for dresses more than ever before.
I would split them in two categories, for holidays, weekend and free time and for work. Not always is necessary to have more dresses for different occasions, as some work places doesn’t require the smart dress code, but if you work in the corporate office probably you do have different style of dress for work.
Weekend, holidays and free time
All that pretty dresses with the spaghetti straps, or even bandau top are the kind of dresses what we tend to reach for more often to feel comfortable and free. There is not any restriction of fabric and they are never too tight. All that flowy short, mid or long dresses are our best friends.

By work dress I don’t mean an uniform, but it is more formal dress. It doesn’t necessary needs to be black, but most of the time we reach for black dress as we can add colourful accessories if we feel for it. Also work dress is more formal, were we should pay more attention to fit and lenght. The dress shouldn’t be too short, the ideal lenght would be just below the knees or 2-3 cm above the knees.
I used to work in a smart casual office, so there wasn’t necessary to follow the strict dress code, the above outfit would be a perfect for our office. But the below outfits would be more suitable for clients facing offices.

If you don’t need to have 2 different capsule wardrobes it’s always nice to find the clothes what suits any kind of situation. I would take the short sleeve dress even on holidays and it would look amazing with white pair of trainers. Do you mind to share your favourite dresses? What’s your go to dress style?
