Days getting shorter and also colder. Today was the first time that I had to wrap up in the thick cardigan. I don’t know about you but I love to snuggle in the thick woollen knits when seasons are changing. That’s the time when heating is still off, as it’s not too cold but even not warm enough to be sitting around without that cosy extra layer. Long cardigans are great worn instead of coats in the transitional weather. And if you are not convinced that it would be the right piece for your capsule wardrobe, I prepared some inspiration on how to wear a cardigan with the rest of your wardrobe.
How To Wear a Cardigan
Cardigans can be a love-hate relationship piece of clothing. Or at least for me, it was. I thought they are really old fashioned. But that’s not true at all, I found them really fashionable and easy to wear. And since ACNE Studio came with their iconic cashmere cardigan, they really took off on popularity. Cardigans can be really nice replacement of coat for a nice early fall day or to make it warm extra layer in the winter. They cover half of the body so no need to worry you get cold easily. For more stand out style, you can wear it with the belt.
What Style To Choose
If you thinking of adding a cardigan to your capsule wardrobe, you should think about how would you like it to wear the most. I got mine for the cold office, to keep me warm but still to look office-friendly. The length, the colour and also the material is really important. Ask yourself why do you need the cardigan, where will you wear it the most? All these will direct you to the right style. Because if you want to get it as an extra layer under your winter coat you wouldn’t go for a chunky knitted cardigan. You would be considering to get something smoother and sleeker.
What Material and Colour to Get
As I mentioned before, the cardigans gained on popularity since an ACNE Studios release their cashmere cardigan. It is the most versatile cardigan, not too bulky but incredibly soft and warm. But if you prefer something thicker woollen hand-knitted cardigan is your go-to piece.
When it comes to colour choice, you can either experiment a bit, to step out of your comfort zone, or you can keep your colour pallet as the cardigan is great worn as a replacement of the coat.
Did you find your perfect cardigan? Not yet? What about to make it? It would be one of the most sustainable items in your wardrobe.
